controlled, and more affordable option.
Clients choose R L Scott for alternative dispute resolution (ADR) because of our ability to listen and distill the matter

Approximately 80% of our mediation and arbitration cases are settled out of court.
ARBITRATION
Under the rules of arbitration, parties agree to present their arguments to an independent arbitrator rather than to a jury. The arbitration process can be a single session of presentations from both sides and often results in significant cost savings over other forms of negotiated litigation. Our attorneys serve as independent arbitrators or as members of a panel. We also offer services as legal counsel for presenting arguments on behalf of parties seeking an arbitrated resolution.

- Caucus-based mediation
- Understanding-based mediation
MEDIATION
Mediation involves an independent mediator who establishes the rules of the negotiations and serves to establish the foundation for evidence and arguments between the parties. Mediation sessions can be as short as a few hours or be spread out over several sessions. Mediation allows both parties to retain control of the final resolution and can result in significant cost savings over court litigation. Our lawyers serve as independent mediators or neutrals. We also offer services to represent either party in mediation.
